Our Story
Mike Hill opened Flavorville Cafe in the Forbes Stevenson building in the Uptown section of Pittsburgh in 2002. Tucked away in the far corner of the first floor in the building with only a hand-made sign on the sidewalk, rumor of his unique menu items and top quality ingredients spread quickly. Mike soon found himself operating at peak capacity within the small confines of his rented space.
In November 2004, Mike partnered with Life’sWork of Western PA and expanded his operation to the not-for-profit’s 900 square foot kitchen and cafeteria. Mike developed an extensive menu that offers original and healthy alternatives useing fresh herbs and homemade sauces.
As part of Life’sWork’s food service program, Flavorville Café at Life’sWork is an on-site evaluation, training and employment facility for people with disabilities or other employment barriers.
